The Motorcycle Training Course (MTC) is a 15 hour course which includes 5 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of actual riding.  The MTC is mandatory for those under the age off 21, but is also recommended to those 21 and older who are seeking to obtain a motorcycle endorsement on their California diver's license.

In the classroom, you’ll learn about the different types of motorcycles, layout and operation of the basic controls, and how to become a safer, more responsible rider. You’ll review the different types of safety gear worn for protection and comfort, and riding strategies to improve your safety.

Next, you’ll move to the riding range and your experienced certified instructor will start you off with straight-line riding, stopping, shifting, and turning. You’ll gradually progress to swerving and emergency braking.

The course concludes with a knowledge and skills riding test. Once your instructor hands you the course-completion card, you'll be happy knowing that you’ve gone the extra mile to develop safe riding techniques.

The five hours of classroom instruction (provided in two portions) includes a multiple choice assessment at the end of the classroom. The classroom portion is located in a separate location from the riding portion of the course.  See Directions for classroom and range locations.
Your experienced riding instructors will start you off by getting you acquainted with motorcycle control operation, straight line riding, stopping, shifting, turning, weaving, emergency stops, low speed turning, swerving, and plenty of practice before concluding  with a skills riding evaluation.

Completion of the MTC is required by the DMV for anyone under the age of 21 who wants to obtain a motorcycle license (M1 or M2.  Please see "Links" for information on the difference between an M1 or M2 license.)

Over 21 years of age - $255
